Egypt has recently updated its visa regulations to facilitate travel and boost tourism. Here's an overview of the current visa options and requirements:

**1. Tourist Visa Options:**

- **E-Visa:** Travelers from eligible countries can apply for a single-entry 30-day tourist e-visa online before their trip. This convenient option allows for a smoother entry process upon arrival.

- **Visa on Arrival:** Most nationalities can obtain a renewable single-entry 30-day tourist visa upon arrival at Egyptian airports for a fee of $25 USD.

**2. New Five-Year Multiple-Entry Visa:**

In a bid to attract more visitors, Egypt has introduced a five-year multiple-entry visa priced at $700 USD. This visa permits stays of up to 90 days per visit and is available to citizens of 180 countries. Travelers holding valid visas from the United States, United Kingdom, Schengen countries, Japan, or New Zealand can obtain this visa upon arrival at Egyptian airports.

IMPORTANT

Egypt has specific visa regulations tailored for various groups, including individuals over 60 years of age, spouses of Egyptian citizens, and children of Egyptian and foreigners. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you navigate these rules:

1. Visa Regulations for Individuals Over 60 Years of Age:

Visa Exemptions: Some reports suggest that individuals over 60 may be exempt from visa requirements or overstay penalties. BUT NOT ANYMORE.

Residency Considerations: While some over-60 residents live in Egypt without renewing their visas, it's advisable to maintain a valid visa to AVOID PENALTIES and to access services like SIM card renewals and banking. Keeping your visa updated ensures compliance with local regulations and uninterrupted access to essential services.

**3. Extended Free Transit Visa:**

The Egyptian government has extended the 96-hour free transit visa policy at all Egyptian airports until the end of April 2025. Initially limited to EgyptAir flights, this benefit now includes other Egyptian airlines, allowing travelers in transit to explore the country during layovers.

**4. Emergency Entry Visa Expansion:**

During the summer season, foreigners arriving at Luxor and Aswan International Airports on Egyptian airline flights are eligible for a free emergency entry visa. This applies to nationals of countries that already permit emergency visa entry.

**5. Passport Validity Requirements:**

Travelers must ensure their passports are valid for at least six months beyond their intended date of entry into Egypt. Additionally, it's recommended to have at least one blank page in your passport for entry stamps.

**6. Overstay Penalties:**

Overstaying your visa in Egypt can result in fines, penalties, and potentially being banned from future entry. It's crucial to adhere to the permitted duration of stay associated with your visa type.

**7. Special Considerations:**

- **Sinai Resorts:** Tourists arriving at Sharm El Sheikh, St. Catherine, or Taba airports and remaining in the Sinai resorts for up to 15 days may not require a visa. However, this exemption is specific to certain nationalities and purposes of visit.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it's advisable to consult the official Egyptian e-visa portal or contact the nearest Egyptian consulate or embassy before planning your trip.
